Seeking superstar co-ordinator

Are you self-motivated with a can-do attitude and a passion for performing arts?

We’re looking for someone to engage, coordinate and develop our team of volunteers while managing day-to-day operations, scheduled events and hire bookings at The Lyric Theatre.

With an incredible venue and a reputation for hosting high-quality events, we want to ensure our theatre continues to thrive as an asset for the Northern Buller community.

This role is 25 hours per month at $28 per hour. It is a 9-month fixed term position with the potential to extend in July 2026.

You'll have:

  • A good work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A community focus and willingness to engage, manage and train a broad range of people across all skill levels.
  • Availability to work at some events.
  • Relevant experience in at least 3 of: cash handling, administration, hospitality, team leadership, event management, marketing/communications, stakeholder engagement. However, all necessary training will be provided.

About us:

  • We are an incorporated society and registered charity, governed by members of the Northern Buller community, for the purpose of: 
  • Maintaining and preserving a venue of local significance.
  • Fostering a safe, inclusive space for the community to access and participate in performing arts.
  • Our venue regularly hosts medium to large scale performing arts events (12 per annum), community/social events (12 per annum) and weekly scheduled activities for smaller community groups and seasonal bookings.
  • We currently have approximately 15 active volunteers to staff a busy event schedule with many of our events accommodating 50-180 attendees from Northern Buller, Karamea, Westport, Reefton and Punakaiki.

About us:

  • The successful applicant must reside in the Northern Buller/Westport area.
  • A clean, full drivers license is a must - travel is required for some role responsibilities.
  • The successful applicant must pass a police check as the role includes cash handling and relationship development with local schools.
