New Volunteer Coordinator appointed

As some of you may be aware, Timmi, our Theatre Manager for the past 18 months has made the decision to move on from the West Coast to begin a new chapter in Wellington in early October.

Timmi has contributed well to what was an important time in the theatre’s history and her work behind the scenes strengthening relationships with local youth, promoting our events over the airwaves and writing our news pages, has been incredibly valuable. We wish her all the best and are sure she will be missed by the many volunteers she worked alongside.
"For the almost two years, I have worked and/or volunteered alongside the amazing people at The Lyric Theatre, it has been a time of learning, passion and entertainment.

From the moment I set foot in the theatre, I was able to experience the years of talent and care that’s been poured into the venue and it’s been an absolute privilege to watch it grow. I’ve been able to see large scale events with international artists and local creative people show off their skills. However, I’d be remiss if I didn’t speak more to the sheer amount of work and love that the volunteers of The Lyric Theatre have continuously and selflessly given. It’s incredible to see the amount of hours the community gives to The Lyric Theatre and it was a privilege to walk alongside those people. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to everyone I worked with, spoke to and engaged with during my time at the theatre. It is volunteers who form the heart of it all and I can’t wait to see how the theatre continues to grow. Thank you everyone, it has been a privilege.”

We are pleased to announce that following a successful recruitment process, Gracie Swann has been appointed to the Theatre Manager / Volunteer Coordinator role from 1st October.

Gracie’s connections to the Northern Buller community will contribute well to the future of the theatre and we are thrilled to welcome her to the team.
“I am very excited and grateful to accept the position of coordinator for the lovely Lyric Theatre. I have lived in the area for around 20 years, many of you may know me, having worked for the Resource Centre and in the coffee cart. I had a lucky escape when the old theatre lost its roof, and came down right where a lot of us had been parked as our fantastic local fire brigade cleared the road after Fred Ratahi’s house blew over! It has been wonderful to see the Lyric gain new life with a restoration which surpasses the old one! I look forward to working with you all, hope to see you soon.”

Volunteers are the life-force of The Lyric Theatre - without their efforts and energy we simply could not operate. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank them for all the ways they contribute, whether big or small, we are endlessly grateful.

If you or someone you know would like to join our team of volunteers who bring our live music and events to our community, please get in touch with Gracie: manager@thelyric.nz
