Kenny & Dolly Tribute show

Break out the daisy-dukes, October 19 we’re gonna get a little ‘country’, out-country!

The incredibly talented Stevie K and Jo perform their spectacular Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton Tribute act.

Showcasing the best of the best with Kenny and Dolly classics and duets, served up with a devilish sense of humour, this will be a show not to miss and definitely a night to remember.

Fancy dress (highly) encouraged. Food open 6:30pm, event kicks-off at 7:30pm $20 entry, door sales only.

ROARS Off Broadway Present 'pretty good behaviour'

ROARS Off Broadway present: 'Pretty Good Behaviour' A play written by Tim Hambleton.

SYNOPSIS: An experimental prison in a National Park is under threat of closure as the inexperienced manager has been releasing prisoners for “good behaviour” And there are now too few inmates left for the place to be viable. Some of the prisoners are desperate to keep the prison open as they have hit upon various schemes which take full advantage of the natural surroundings. Meanwhile, a ministry official visits, intent on closing the prison, forcing staff and prisoners to co-operate in an all out effort to keep the facility open.

Runtime 60 minutes

SugarBowl

Comprising Stephan Gilberg (guitar and harp) and Ali Lenton (vocals), SugarBowl started out in Nelson (NZ), where they first captivated audiences at the highly regarded Tasman Bay Blues Club’s ‘Jam Nights’.

Ali's vocals, combined with Stephan’s instrumental prowess, create a dynamic sound that earns audience attention from the get-go.

Their broad repertoire draws from legendary artists such as Tom Petty, Neil Young, and Jimi Hendrix, and is an eclectic mix of folk, rock, pop, indie, and blues songs.

SugarBowl's versatility and musicianship shine through in their live shows, offering audiences a unique and lively journey through the evolution of music.

SATURDAY 30th NOVEMBER

INDO CELTIC TRIO

A new East Meets West music fusion project tours Aotearoa in Spring, taking audiences on an exotic soundscape journey from Shimla in northern India to Dingle in west Kerry. And many locations in between!

Featuring award winning artists Basant Madhur (tablas), Tristan Carter (violin) and Jon Sanders (mandola), the trio have worked in various music projects over many years including most recently the Shades of Shakti concerts and Arts on Tour’s India meets Ireland shows.

“There is real joy in dipping into the well of musical tradition and then blending it with contemporary composition. It is at the very heart of music fusion”, explains Jon.

The three musicians have long been involved in music and film soundtrack composition, performance and community work in both halves of the world, but this represents a new combination of instruments for them. The three will weave together ragas and reels, Indian and Irish vocal cameos and self-penned anthems bringing a unique and mesmerising experience.

Mundi Trio

Filled with joy and exuberant energy, Mundi trio have captured hearts across the land and far-flung seas.

“I don’t think anyone wanted the music to end and thus an encore was demanded and happily delivered with as much energy, skill and joy as the Mundi Trio had shown throughout.” Reefton

Mundi trio comprises Brazilian percussionist Ricardo Stuani, guitarist and dancer Chris Dabinett and flautist, vocalist, percussionist, dancer and composer Tamara Smith.

In this Arts on Tour performance Mundi perform a new series of compositions that weave together the two oldest instruments in human’s history – flutes and percussion- into a sizzling array of duelling Brazilian/African percussion with vocal melodies soaring above.

With dances, choreographed by Tamara intertwined, these exciting new compositions lure people into an ancient memory of the pulse of life and awaken our dancing selves lurking beneath.

heti & hope

Heti has created lyrics and tunes most of her life. Adie and Heti have been together for over thirty years both as partners in life and making music and it shows in their performance. The connection is palpable. Musically Adie skilfully weaves in and out of the lyrics and keyboard either on lead or rhythm guitar or violin, whilst Heti’s soulful melodies ring out with lingering words to reflect upon.

Heti loved listening to female artist growing up, Carol King, Patti Smith, Nina Simone, Billy Eilish amongst many. She also enjoyed David Bowie, Pink Floyd and Van Morrison. Her unique songs are from a personal view looking at herself and humanity, body, soul and spirit and the World we live in. She loves engaging with an audience, creating connection and a memorable evening for everyone.

aya & the butterfly

Birdlife Productions are back with a new puppet and music show using exquisite puppetry, live music, lots of giant caterpillar fun! ‘Aya and the Butterfly’ is a heart-warming, joyful story about a little girl who finds happiness through her experience of the metamorphosis of the Monarch Butterfly. Designed for families and ideal for children aged 3 to 9 years, Aya’s story encourages compassion and empathy for different cultures, and helps us all become part of an important movement of change towards living together in peace, and all the while featuring plenty of magical puppet moments, music and songs, and lots of joining in!

jackie goes prima diva

Homegrown chanteuse Jackie Clarke turns her powerhouse vocals, wicked humour and maverick entertainment style to interpret the songs of the 20th and 21st Centuries most legendary divas.

Ms Clarke pays homage to Judy Garland, Shirley Bassey, Peggy Lee, Barbra Streisand and more! From Alberta Hunter to Dolly Parton, from Kate Bush to Lady Gaga, Jackie lets her diva flag fly, while playfully interacting with the audience with trademark witty panache.

Accompanied by her trusty sidekick Maestro on piano, expect iconic songs performed with tender soul and gleeful virtuosity.

In 2018 Jackie Clarke was awarded an MNZM for services to entertainment; 40 years treading the boards in theatre, (Mamma Mia, Shirley Valentine) music (When The Cat’s Been Spayed, The Lady Killers) and T.V. (NZ Idol).
