Led by the talented composer and flautist Tamara Smith, The Mundi Trio delivered a performance that transported the audience to faraway places. Tamara, whose musical journey has taken her from Paris jazz clubs to the banks of the Amazon River, infuses her compositions with a rich tapestry of global influences. Accompanying her were Brazilian percussionist Ricardo Stuani, whose rhythms pulsed with the heartbeat of his homeland, and guitarist and dancer Chris Dabinett, whose fluid movements and intricate melodies added a dynamic layer to the performance.

The music was a seamless blend of Brazilian and African percussion, soaring flute melodies, soulful vocals, and driving guitar and bass lines. It was a sound that defied categorisation, at times evoking the energy of rock, the sophistication of classical music, and the primal echoes of ancient traditions. The audience was swept up in this sonic journey, their feet moving instinctively to the rhythmic pulse that seemed to tap into something timeless and universal.

But it was not just the music that captivated the crowd. The Mundi Trio's warm and playful stage presence created an atmosphere of joyous connection. They engaged with the audience, weaving humour into their performance and making every individual feel a part of the musical experience. At times, the artists left the stage to move among the crowd, encouraging spontaneous dancing and laughter, breaking down the barrier between performer and listener. The Lyric Theatre itself seemed to pulse with life, its walls resonating with the collective energy of performers and audience alike. When the final note rang out, the applause was thunderous, and the call for an encore was unanimous. The trio returned to the stage, delivering a final burst of music that left the crowd exhilarated and grateful.

Hosting The Mundi Trio was not just a musical event; it was a celebration of community, resilience, and the unifying power of music. The Lyric Theatre is proud to have provided the stage for such a magical evening and extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making the night a resounding success. As the echoes of The Mundi Trio's music fade into memory, one thing is certain—their performance will linger in the hearts of all who were there, a reminder of the joy that music brings, and the strength of a community brought together by art.
